At nursery, it is part of our responsibility to help children learn how to eat healthily. We understand that whilst some children already have healthy lunch boxes, for some families, this will require some changes to their child's packed lunch.
Packed lunches do not need to be huge, but must contain enough to ensure your child is satisfied and full. Think of it as your child's stomach is around the same size as their clenched fist.
Please could we ensure that your child's packed lunch contains:
Fruits check for pips and cut as per below.
Vegetables
Dairy – e.g. cheeses, yoghurts
Meat and fish- boneless
Pasta – chopped spaghetti
Breadsticks
Bread/ wraps
Crackers
Bagels
Foods to be cut up are:
Fruits – any pips please remove, grapes, strawberries, etc, anything round that is chokeable.
Vegetables
Cheese to be cut into batons or strips
Sausages
Please ensure your child's packed lunch does not contain:
Crisps
Chocolate
Sweets – confectionery
Fizzy drinks
Nuts – or nut-containing products
Pesto
Popcorn
Please note that any item will be returned home. Please do talk to the team if you are having difficulties or if you require any help from us.
